The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) is a strategic advisor and trusted partner to leadership, delivering high-impact HR solutions that align with business objectives and drive organizational performance. In this influential role, the Sr. HRBP acts as a key liaison between the business and cross-functional partners, supporting key initiatives while championing a culture of excellence, engagement, and continuous improvement.

This role balances strategic foresight with operational rigor—advising senior leaders on organizational design, talent development, and workforce planning, while also navigating complex employee relations and HR operations. The ideal candidate thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments and is energized by transformation, cross-functional collaboration, and innovation in people strategy.

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Head of Human Resources, North America and is based in our Portsmouth, NH office.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategic HR Partnership:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders, leveraging data-driven insights to guide talent planning, organizational development, and workforce strategy.
  • Influence business outcomes by aligning HR strategies with key organizational priorities across multiple functions and geographies.
  • Proactively identify talent and organizational risks and design forward-looking solutions that enable scalable growth and high performance.
  • Lead complex employee relations matters with sound judgment and sensitivity, ensuring outcomes that mitigate risk and support a positive employee experience.

Organizational Development & Talent Strategy:

  • Partner with senior leaders to drive organizational design, succession planning, and talent development efforts that support long-term business needs.
  • Lead talent reviews and the development of individual development plans, supporting leadership pipeline development and internal mobility.
  • Architect and evolve job families and career frameworks to reflect the evolving needs of the organization and ensure alignment with growth goals.
  • Facilitate and support the performance management lifecycle, ensuring alignment between individual, team, and enterprise-level objectives.

HR Leadership & Project Execution:

  • Champion enterprise-wide HR programs and change initiatives, providing thought leadership and regional implementation oversight.
  • Collaborate with global HR colleagues to ensure alignment of local strategies with broader global goals and ways of working.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure HR operational compliance including data integrity, audit controls, and policy adherence across all HR systems and processes.
  • Provide strategic consultation and partnership in recruitment efforts, compensation planning, and workforce transitions within assigned functions.
  • Monitor HR metrics and KPIs, distilling insights that influence strategic decisions and support continuous improvement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a consultative HRBP capacity supporting senior leaders in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing and advising senior-level stakeholders in a high-growth or transformational setting.

  • Strong customer relationship management skills and demonstrated experience in developing consultative relationships with senior leaders, including the capability to influence key decision-makers
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills including policy and creative writing, group presentation & individual coaching, and counseling skills
  • A big picture perspective that allows you to proactively identify issues or challenges while also identifying potential solutions
  • Global experience – a focus on EMEA and North America is an advantage
  • Critical thought with strong analytical skills and an understanding of how to navigate the “gray space”
  • Experience in life sciences, biotech or pharma environment is an advantage
