Principal Algorithm Engineer




Novocure is a global medical device company with R&D based in Haifa.  The company is growing quickly as it commercializes TTFields therapy: a novel treatment for aggressive cancers using alternating electric fields.


We are looking for a Principal Algorithm Engineer who will serve as the technical focal point for the development of algorithms for future products focusing on the improvement of patient outcomes, driving TTFields patient adoption, and enhancing TTFields understanding.
This role includes the design and implementation of deep-learning-based as well as other state-of-the-art algorithms and the generation of the data that they require.
In addition, will coordinate the algorithmic development of specific areas with other functions in the organization and will be the main point of contact for this subject.
The principal algorithm engineer is expected to train and provide technical guidance for all members of the algorithms group.

  • Lead future products algorithm development
  • Work on innovations and research of relevant algorithmic areas
  • Technically supervise and guide other members of the algorithms group 
  • Provide algorithmic solutions for cross-functional collaborations with the software team, physicists, biologists, and other algorithm engineers
  • Write documents and prepare presentations necessary for patents, regulatory submissions, academic conferences, and other scientific publications




  • Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in computer science or biomedical/electrical/computer engineering



  • Knowledge:
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Algorithm engineer in the industry
  • Proficient in implementing computer vision and image processing algorithms.
  • Theoretical and hands-on experience in developing deep learning (4+ years) and other machine learning algorithms.
  • Strong scientific and mathematical background
  • Experience with medical image processing – advantage
  • Experience in the regulation of AI-based medical software - advantage
  • High level of proficiency in Python.
  • Self-motivated, independent, team player, innovative, capable of learning and assimilating new technologies.
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary environment involving software engineers, physicists, algorithm engineers and physicians.
