Senior Director, Market Access
JOB SUMMARY:
Novocure is pioneering Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy to extend survival in some of the most aggressive forms of cancer. We are seeking a Senior Director, Market Access, to own the end-to-end access strategy and execution for our in-market and pipeline indications in the United States. This leader will secure favorable coding, coverage, and reimbursement with both public and private payers. This role serves as the US voice into Novocure’s global value, pricing, and evidence strategy.
This is a full time, exempt, role based in Washington D.C., Portsmouth, NH, or Chesterbrook, PA reporting to the Vice President, Public Affairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set and deliver U.S. access strategy across Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE/VA, commercial payers, and integrated delivery systems; lead negotiations to secure/expand coverage and optimize criteria.
- Drive coding, coverage, and payment strategies; engage CMS and regional MACs; guide LCD strategy and responses and support Government Affairs to monitor and shape policy changes impacting TTFields and related services.
- Pricing & affordability: establish U.S. pricing strategy and guardrails; evaluate novel payment models, and partner with Legal/Compliance on patient affordability programs.
- Physician services (treatment planning): Lead CPT pathway (Cat I/III), valuation (RUC/RVUs), and payment under MPFS and commercial plans; advance coverage, provider education/documentation, and denial resolution with RevOps. Build field reimbursement function to enable national and regional pull-through.
- Guidelines & compendia: Collaborate cross functionally to secure and strengthen inclusion (e.g., NCCN and specialty societies); align evidence/HEOR, coordinate KOL engagement.
- Insights, governance, and cross-functional leadership: collaborate with Medical, Government Affairs, Strategic Alliances, Revenue Operations, Commercial, Global Product & Portfolio Strategy, and Global Value teams to align launch sequencing, label/indication planning, and access milestones, and develop payer analytics, coverage tracking, and forecasting.
- Team & culture: recruit, develop, and retain an inclusive, mission-driven team; establish clear goals, operating mechanisms, and compliance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
- 12+ years in U.S. market access across medtech/biotech/pharma, with strong preference for device experience, including 5+ years building and leading multi-disciplinary access teams (payer strategy, contracting, reimbursement, field access).
- Demonstrated coverage wins (national payers and Medicare/Medicaid), criteria optimization, and pull-through that increased starts and adherence for specialized therapies/devices.
- Deep understanding of U.S. payer, policy, and provider economics: Medicare DME, state Medicaid, commercial payers, and coding/coverage/payment pathways.
- Experience engaging CMS/MACs and national payers; fluency in dossiers, budget impact and cost-effectiveness modeling, and the evidence needs of medical directors and P&T committees.
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast paced environment managing, collaborating, and influencing multiple internal stakeholders and senior company leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, MS-Econ/HEOR or similar) preferred.
