Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Novocure is a global medical device company with R&D based in Krakow.  The company is growing quickly as it commercializes TTFields therapy: a novel treatment for aggressive cancers using alternating electric fields.

As part of the effort to extend Novocure’s Quality Assurance department, we are looking for a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer, who will act as the primary software quality assurance testing point of contact for medical device software development efforts with multi-disciplinary teams.

This is a full-time, exempt position located in our Krakow Poland office and reports to the SW QA Testing Team Lead. The role is hybrid and requires physical presence at the office 3 times per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, execute, maintain test plan, test strategies for embedded software, web, mobile and PC (desktop) applications
• Execute manual and automation tests
• Support automation execution when needed
• Manage software bug tracking and perform bug trend analysis
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality products (including requirements, design documentation, testing, and deployment procedures) while adhering to medical device industry standards and regulations
• Maintain strong communication across departments to develop needs analysis, requirements, and operational planning

• Provide training and guidance to team members related to: STLC process, software bug management process, software testing documentation, and software test methodology
• Review and approve requirements, plans, test procedures, test results
• Review software quality assurance test methods and provide feedback to support implementation of robust software test methods
• Work with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion
• Bring new ideas, work independently, and help improve ways of working
• Support the team with tasks given by the SW QA testing team lead

QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE:

Qualifications:

• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.

Knowledge:

• 5+ years of experience in a software quality assurance role with a strong focus on manual testing of complex systems
• Hands-on background in software development
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
• Thorough working knowledge of software testing methodologies and the testing life cycle
• Top-level knowledge of test types and strategies: unit, integration, system, performance, stress etc.
• Skilled in managing traceability matrixes between SDLC documents
• Experience with IEC 62304 – significant advantage
• Familiarity with regulations, standards, and guidance for medical devices, including software – advantage
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum as well as waterfall development process and the implications coming from the regulatory standards
• Excellent Documentation Skills and experience operating under Document Control
• Familiarity with one or more programming languages and environments (e.g., Python, SQL, Postman, Selenium, Playwright, Appium) – significant advantage
• Excellent English level (oral, written).

  COMPENSATION:

  The annual base salary ranges from 221.499 PLN to 270.721 PLN yearly*.

  This pay range is the range of base pay compensation within which Novocure expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and skills demonstrated.
