As Senior Manager, Clinical Research Scientist, you will be a scientific and people leader within Global Clinical Development, reporting to the VP Global Clinical Development. You will lead and develop a team of Clinical Research Scientists while providing scientific leadership across multiple clinical development programs evaluating Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields).
This role combines hands-on clinical development expertise with team leadership and significant ownership. You will help drive studies from protocol development through study reporting, establish consistent scientific standards across the CRS organization, and work closely with Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Data Management, Safety, Clinical Quality Assurance and other cross-functional partners. You will also build strong scientific relationships with investigators, key opinion leaders and study teams to support successful clinical trial execution.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Clinical Research Scientists, including performance management, career development, succession planning, workload prioritization and resource allocation.
- Provide scientific leadership across multiple clinical development programs from protocol development through study reporting, ensuring scientific integrity, quality and consistency across studies.
- Provide expert input into study design, protocol development, endpoint selection and scientific strategy.
- Lead and contribute to the authoring and scientific review of key clinical and regulatory documents, including protocols, clinical study reports, annual regulatory reports and other regulatory submissions.
- Lead the scientific interpretation and review of clinical trial data and contribute to study analyses, publications and presentations.
- Lead clinical data review and data cleaning activities in close collaboration with Medical Monitors, Data Management, Biostatistics and Clinical Operations.
- Build and maintain productive scientific relationships with investigators, co-investigators and study staff, serving as a scientific point of contact for investigator questions and protocol clarifications.
- Provide scientific support during investigator meetings, site initiation visits, advisory boards, scientific congresses, webinars and other investigator interactions.
- Support study start-up, enrollment initiatives, protocol implementation and ongoing study conduct, and participate in Data Monitoring Committee (DMC/DSMB) preparation and review activities.
- Partner closely across functions including Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Safety, Data Management, Biostatistics, Clinical Quality Assurance and Device Support Specialists to advance clinical development programs.
- Identify scientific risks and opportunities, exercise sound judgment and proactively develop mitigation strategies while supporting timely cross-functional decision-making.
- Mentor Clinical Research Scientists in scientific knowledge, investigator engagement, communication, clinical trial execution and leadership capabilities, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture.
- Drive the CRS functional strategy, continuous process improvement, resource and headcount planning, KPI development, SOP development, inspection readiness and standardization of scientific practices across therapeutic programs.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Novocure’s clinical development portfolio, the competitive scientific landscape and TTFields technology, including its mechanism of action, device functionality, array technology and clinical application.
ABOUT YOU
Minimum Requirement:
- Advanced scientific degree (i.e. MD, PhD or PharmD).
- Approximately 5 years of relevant experience as a Clinical Research Scientist, Clinical Scientist, Clinical Development Scientist or in a similar clinical development role, with industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing clinical studies within oncology.
- Experience authoring and contributing to clinical development documents, including protocols and clinical study reports.
- Strong medical, scientific and clinical research knowledge; relevant academic clinical experience is considered.
- Experience with clinical data review and data cleaning activities.
- Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and ownership, exercise sound judgment, make timely decisions, prioritize effectively and escalate issues when necessary.
- Advanced written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and under pressure.
- Ability to travel regularly (>40%).
These additional qualifications are preferred:
- Clinical development experience in CNS, lung and/or gastrointestinal oncology tumors.
- Previous team leadership or people management experience, including coaching, developing and performance-managing scientific or clinical professionals.
- Strong leadership skills and a commitment to coaching, constructive feedback and talent development.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt effectively to a changing work environment.
WHAT WE OFFER
This pay range which Novocure expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting is 180,000-220,000 USD. This position may also be eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant in addition to a full range of benefits. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and skills demonstrated.
