Senior Architect, SAP SD
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Architect, SAP SD (Sales & Distribution) holds primary responsibility for the architecture, design, and delivery of SAP SD solutions supporting order-to-cash (OTC) processes. This individual acts as a subject matter expert in sales and distribution, driving requirement gathering, solution design, process optimization, and digital transformation initiatives across the business, particularly for sales, customer care, and revenue operations.
The role requires strong collaboration with business stakeholders and IT counterparts to implement scalable solutions aligned with enterprise strategy. The Senior Architect will also provide direction on best practices, manage integration with adjacent SAP modules (e.g., MM, WM, FI), and guide technical vendors.
This is a full-time, exempt, remote position based in the US, reporting to the Director, SAP Functional.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the architecture and delivery of SAP SD functionality, including order processing, pricing, billing, credit management, and integration with logistics and financial systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to capture business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
- Drive solution design and configuration activities across multiple SAP SD projects, including global template rollouts, S/4HANA migrations, and enhancements.
- Conduct fit-gap analysis and recommend system improvements or customizations to optimize the OTC cycle.
- Ensure seamless integration with other SAP modules (MM, WM, FI/CO, LE) and third-party systems.
- Act as a liaison between business and IT to support change management and ensure user adoption.
- Partner with internal and external teams for project planning, execution, testing, and deployment.
- Support and enhance EDI transactions related to sales orders, invoices, and shipping.
- Evaluate and incorporate SAP best practices and emerging technologies such as SAP Fiori, CDS views, or AI-based analytics.
- Guide junior team members and serve as an SAP SD mentor within the organization.
- Review and manage vendor deliverables and ensure compliance with project timelines and budget.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in SAP SD, with at least 3-5 full lifecycle implementations.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end OTC processes and integration with logistics and finance.
- Proven experience in configuring SD modules including pricing, order types, delivery, billing, and credit management.
- Solid understanding of EDI, IDoc processing, and integration with supplier/customer portals.
- Exposure to S/4HANA and experience with greenfield or conversion projects strongly preferred.
- Experience working in regulated industries (medical device, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences) is highly desirable.
- Experience in project management, vendor oversight, and agile delivery methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
