JOB SUMMARY:

 

Manager, Scientific Communication & Publications is an integral member of the Global Medical Affairs Scientific Exchange Team reporting to the Director, Scientific Exchange for assigned therapeutic area(s). The position will be responsible for providing management and direction for the Global Scientific Exchange Team in support of marketed and pipeline indications. The Manager, Scientific Communication & Publications, will provide medical expertise for the Promotional Review Committee for assigned theraputic area(s).

 

This is a full-time, exempt, remote position tied to our Portsmouth, NH  office and reporting to the Director, Scientific Exchange Lead CNS & Metastases.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee Global Scientific Exchange efforts in exchange with the Medical Director for assigned therapeutic area(s) to ensure corporate goals and milestones are met.
  • Manage and oversee that the Global Scientific Exchange’s output meets the requirements of Global and Regional cross-functional partners.
  • Manage small team of Managers, Specialists, Fellows, and Interns of the Global Scientific Exchange team to ensure alignment with operational objectives, excellence in execution, maintenance of quality performance, and compliance with policies and procedures 
  • Manage Global Scientific Exchange assets in order to ensure materials are aligned with corporate strategy
  • Participate in medical affairs team meetings and educates internal stakeholders on program updates as required
  • Oversee or lead cross functional working groups for matrixed projects to ensure messaging and material alignment with Global Scientific Exchange goals and corporate strategy
  • Assist with the identification, sourcing, evaluating and hiring of vendors as required by departmental project needs. Participate in vendor pitch presentations as appropriate
  • Manage PRC review for assigned therapeutic area(s) as well as tumor-agnostic and ad-hoc reviews in collaboration with the Medical Director(s)
  • Actively participate in Medical Affairs planning and departmental activities for assigned therapeutic area(s)
  • Manage congress planning and Medical booth design / exhibit. Will develop prospective plan for primary conference coverage for organization 
  • Manage competitive intelligence monitoring initiatives for assigned therapeutic area(s)
  • Collaborate with other members of medical affairs team to ensure comprehensive congress coverage, data consolidation and consolidated analysis is completed.
  • Actively participate in other competitive intelligence efforts for therapeutic area(s) of interest
  • Develop/implement appropriate policies, SOPs, business practices, work instructions
  • Develop/implement strategic initiatives to improve efficiencies, and quality output
  • Understand and apply the current status of industry standards and practice and ensures activities are in compliance with company policy and standards

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Able to translate corporate strategies and objectives and apply to medical affairs and communications programs
  • Excellence in prospective planning, project management, cross-functional collaboration and ability to manage timelines
  • Strong scientific acumen, mastery of statistical analysis and able to analyze clinical and scientific studies
  • Prior people management experience and skills desirable
  • Strategic thinking, naturally inquisitive, detail orientated and able to see the bigger picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Able to deal with ambiguity, can identify and manage differences through discussion and agreement, as appropriate
  • Advanced scientific degree (Ph.D., PharmD, M.D.) with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry or scientific research experience
  • Experience in solid tumor space is preferable
  • An established track record of cross-functional project management and execution
  • Excellent writing, reviewing, editing and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
