The role of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based key position within Novocure’s Austrian organization. The position is responsible for building relationships within the medical–scientific community, providing medical and scientific information on Novocure products and research to healthcare professionals (HCPs), and supporting these HCPs in caring for patients treated with Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields). Additional responsibilities include—but are not limited to—acting as a scientific interface between the company and HCP communities regarding communication about Novocure’s clinical development plans as well as other research and development activities. Developing appropriate training materials, supporting external research projects related to marketed or investigational Novocure indications, and participating in field-based activities to advance existing products and introduce new indications are also part of the role. The MSL plays an important role within the team, serves as a resource and mentor for other field-based employees, and is responsible for training new prescribers. Medical–scientific expertise is maintained through literature research, participation in professional congresses, and self-study. The position works closely with cross-functional partners, including the Austrian business team.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Increase therapy awareness among prescribers and non-prescribers
  • Manage the entire Austrian territory and all associated field activities

  • Deliver medical training on Novocure products and disease areas

  • Support and accompany investigator-sponsored trials (ISTs) and other research projects

  • Provide HCP insights and market information to the company

  • Participate in medical (Europe-wide) congresses, and organize and follow up on advisory boards

  • Promote scientific advancement related to TTFields

  • Support Phase 3 studies in collaboration with clinical teams and researchers

  • Build and maintain relationships with national KOLs and medical experts

  • Conduct internal medical training sessions and contribute scientific input to marketing and reimbursement strategies

 

Your qualifications:

  • University degree in natural sciences, medicine, or engineering; an advanced scientific degree is an advantage
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in a comparable medical-scientific role, ideally in oncology

  • Experience in KOL management and/or investigator-sponsored trials (ISTs)

  • High willingness to travel (70–80%) and enthusiasm for proactive field work

  • Ability to communicate scientific content confidently and tailored to the target audience

  • Flexibility, independence, and sound judgment in dynamic environments

  • Hands-on mentality and ability to collaborate in a small, dynamic team as well as across sites

  • High professionalism, sense of responsibility, and ethical conduct

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English

  • Proficiency in MS Office and an independent, well-structured working style
