JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field based key position within the German Novocure organization. The position will be responsible to develop relationships within the medical/scientific community, provide medical and/or scientific data about Novocure products and research to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and supports the HCPs to enable the care of patients on Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields). Additional responsibilities include - but are not limited to - serving as scientific interface between the company and the HCP communities with respect to communicating about Novocure’s clinical development plan and other research and development plans. To develop teaching materials as appropriate, facilitate external research projects on Novocure marketed and investigational indications and provide perspective related to field activities associated with growing existing products and bringing new indications to market, are further responsibilities of this position. The MSL will take an important role on the team, serving as a resource and mentor to field team members. The MSL will be responsible for the education of new prescribers. Medical and scientific expertise will be maintained through review of scientific literature, attendance at assigned medical meetings and self-learning. The MSL will work closely with cross-functional partners including the German Business Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Increases therapy awareness amongst prescribers and non-prescribers.
  • Manages his/her territory and associated field-based activities.
  • Performs activities related to Novocure’s marketed and research products including:
    • Healthcare provider education on Novocure products and disease awareness
    • Facilitation of investigator sponsored trials and other research projects
    • Providing HCP feedback and competitive intelligence to the company regarding the therapeutic area and Novocure products
    • Attendance and coverage at assigned medical meetings, organization of advisory boards, etc.
    • Facilitate advancement of the body of science regarding TTFields.
  • Supports phase 3 clinical trials by collaborating with clinical development teams, engaging investigators, and providing scientific expertise to enhance trial execution and data generation.
  • Supports TTFields through medical communication, scientific support for promotional activities and other related medical activities including - but not limited to - studies, trainings, and medical information.
  • Develops, maintains and extends contacts with national experts and medical professionals in Novocure’s therapeutic area.
  • Delivers presentations to scientific leaders or decision makers.
  • Ensures 100% compliance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, local and international rules and regulations.
  • The MSL is trained and appointed by the company on MPDG § 83 (Medizinprodukterecht-Durchführungsgesetz).

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Qualifications:
  • Professional degree in natural science, medical or technical field.
  • Advanced scientific or health related degree preferred. Pharmacist (PharmD or RPh), Medical Doctor (MD), or other clinical/scientific experience.
  • Combined oncology or industry experience is a strong plus.
  • At least 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role (IST facilitation, KOL development) is a plus.

  • Prescriber focus oriented: Provides expertise and innovation while collaborating with the prescriber.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • German and English is a must, any other language a plus.
