Location: ES

Company: novocure

At Novocure, every role contributes to extending the lives of people living with cancer. As our new Legal Counsel, Spain, you’ll play a key part in this mission.

In this role, you will serve as the primary legal partner for our Spanish affiliate, acting as a trusted advisor across a broad range of legal matters. You will take ownership of legal activities in Spain, with a strong focus on public procurement and tender processes that are critical to enabling patient access to our therapies.

This is a highly autonomous, hands-on role designed for a motivated legal professional eager to grow and expand their scope. You will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external advisors, with the opportunity to develop into a broader Iberia legal lead over time. The role combines operational execution (notably tender work) with strategic responsibility for the country’s legal landscape.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As Legal Counsel for Spain, you will take ownership of legal matters across the affiliate, with a strong emphasis on public tenders while supporting a wide range of business activities.

  • Lead and manage all public procurement and tender-related legal matters, representing approximately 50–60% of the role, including documentation, timelines, and coordination with internal teams and external agencies
  • Independently handle tender processes end-to-end, ensuring compliance with Spanish public procurement regulations and supporting successful market access
  • Provide comprehensive legal support to the Spanish business across contracting, employment law, and general corporate matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including commercial, consulting, software, confidentiality, manufacturing, and distributor contracts
  • Partner closely with HR on Spanish labor law matters and employee-related topics
  • Manage and coordinate external legal counsel and tender specialists
  • Act as the primary legal point of contact for the affiliate, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and supporting business growth initiatives
  • Contribute to building legal capabilities in Spain, with the potential to expand scope to Iberia over time

ABOUT YOU

Minimum Requirement:

  • Law degree in Spain
  • 3–5 years of experience in a mid-sized to large law firm or relevant in-house environment
  • Proven experience in public procurement law and public tenders, ideally with hospitals or regional authorities
  • Solid knowledge of Spanish labor law and employment-related matters
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive, hands-on mindset and strong sense of ownership

These additional qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience in life sciences or medical device industry
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • High level of motivation, curiosity, and desire to grow into broader responsibility
  • Good judgment and adaptability in a dynamic, evolving environment
