The Intern Clinical Payments is a member of the Global Clinical Operations team, within Clinical Operational Excellence, and supports the end-to-end process of site invoicing and payments for clinical studies. Reporting to the Operational Excellence Head, this role plays a key supporting function for Clinical Study Teams by helping ensure payments to investigative sites are timely, accurate, and compliant.

 

This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with Clinical Study Teams, Finance, and external service providers such as CROs. It offers a strong learning opportunity for someone interested in business administration or finance who wants exposure to how financial processes operate within the life sciences industry.

 

This is a temporary role for 12 months.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

In this role, you will support critical clinical payment activities, including:

  • Support processing site payments in accordance with executed Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), study milestones, and approved invoices
  • Review and validate payment requests from investigative sites to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms
  • Monitor payment schedules and support timely disbursement of funds to investigative sites
  • Collaborate with Clinical Study Teams, Finance, and CROs to resolve payment discrepancies, delays, or site inquiries
  • Maintain accurate records of payment transactions and ensure audit readiness
  • Track and report on payment metrics, including timeliness, accuracy, and issue resolution
  • Support the development and maintenance of SOPs, guidance, and tools related to clinical site payments
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payment processes and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Assist with training Clinical Study Teams and CROs on payment procedures and documentation requirements
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements

 

ABOUT YOU

 

Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Interest in clinical trial agreements and site payment processes
  • Interest in regulatory requirements related to clinical trial payments

 

These additional qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience in clinical finance, site payments, or clinical operations within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry (nice to have)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Interest in working with CROs or external vendors
  • Interest in financial systems and clinical trial platforms (e.g., CTMS, payment portals, Excel)
