Manager, Software Development



Novocure is a global medical device company with R&D based in Haifa.  The company is growing quickly as it commercializes its TTFields therapy: a novel treatment for aggressive cancers using alternating electric fields.


As part of an effort to extend Novocure’s engineering department, we are looking for a self-motivated, ready-to-lead Manager of Software Development, who will lead the development and lifecycle of device software and supporting tools and applications.



  • Directs the work, training and creates the environment needed to ensure project milestones and goals are met.
  • Hire, onboard, manage and develop skilled talent working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Develop best practices and processes in the team as it relates to software architecture, software development and systems thinking.
  • Define and lead the process of development and maintenance of software products.
  • Own and coordinate the software development efforts in cross-functional projects
  • Verify that software development process complies with company and industry standards and documented as required
  • Focus on skills development for the team to stay in step with evolving product pipeline and software roadmap.
  • Identify and analyze project risks in general and software risk in particular through understanding software risk management.    



  • Qualifications:
  • At least BSc or equivalent in computer science or software engineering.


  • Knowledge:
  • At least 5 years of management of software development team in a cross-functional and multiplatform environment.
  • Experience and interest in people management in a highly technical environment.
  • Familiarity with standards for medical device software development including FDA and IEC
  • At least 7 years in the development of complex software systems in Windows environment
  • At least7 years in the development of complex embedded systems /devices – preferably based on microcontrollers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Web application structure and design
  • Good understanding of formal requirements gathering and software development methodologies.
  • Strategic thinking. Ability to overview the technical challenges, analyze and define risks.
  • Team player capable of working in a multi-disciplinary environment involving software engineers, physicists, algorithm engineers and physicians.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Hebrew and working with global teams.
