Experienced Mechanical Engineer

 

 

 

Novocure is a global publicly-traded commercial-stage oncology company developing a profoundly different cancer treatment therapy called tumor treating fields (TTFields) for patients with solid tumors. TTFields therapy is a non-invasive, novel, antimitotic treatment modality that utilizes proprietary technology attempting to slow or reverse tumor progression by inducing tumor cell death.

Novocure's commercialized product, Optune, is approved for the treatment of adult patients with glioblastoma (GBM) in the USA, Europe, and Israel.

Novocure has ongoing or completed clinical trials and is further expanding its efforts into several other solid tumor indications - non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other types of solid cancers. 

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer who will join our mechanical team and be responsible for designing and maintaining Novocure’s new and current products, focused on consumable wearable products.

 

The Mechanical Engineer will work on exciting projects to support our expanding portfolio of products related to our cancer treatment device from concept all the way through manufacturing, taking into consideration quality, regulation, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturing feasibility.

 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:.

  • PCB and PCBA design for HW engineering.
  • Multidisciplinary products
  • Customized design and consideration of manufacturability as part of the design
  • Rigorous analyses of designs using appropriate methods such as FEA and dimensional tolerance analysis.
  • Consider automated production requirements as part of the design.
  • Evaluate requirements and determine mechanical requirements for the design and development of consumables.
  • Drive component and integration testing to verify that prototypes and production components/constructs meet design intent.
  • Assess requirements and set the mechanical requirements for the design and development of consumables.
  • Provide the data for a full production file (3D files, drawings of mechanical parts, assembly drawings and instructions, BOM)
  • Contact and manage suppliers and subcontractors for manufacturing. 
  • Liaising with suppliers and production sub-contractors.
  • Conduct relevant research
  • Producing and implementing designs and test procedures
  • Perform the actual testing, evaluating, measuring, modifying, and re-testing of the design
  • Generate test reports and documentation

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline, masters preferred.

 

 

  • Knowledge:
  • 8 years’ experience with mechanical/industrial design of high-volume consumables
  • Significant relevant experience working in either the consumer or medical industry
  • Experience in product development from concept level to serial/mass production product.
  • Proven experience in developing  multidisciplinary products 
  • Plastic designer, DFM, Molds approval, experience with plastic injection- an advantage
  • Familiar with medical, biocompatible materials- an advantage
  • Proficiency working with CAD tools, Solidworks.
  • Technical and analytical abilities.
  • Team player, working with engineering and cross-functional groups.
